4chan ban

1

You have been banned from 4chan.

There was no entry in our database for your ban. Therefore, the reason for this ban cannot be automatically determined. It is likely that your ISP is caching a ban intended for someone else. Please contact a moderator on #4chan @ irc.rizon.net with your IP address (IP adress) for more details. Moderators are channel ops (@) and half-ops (%).

If you're reloading this page, please try loading a board instead.

I know theres lots of people that has this problem. Can someone pls look into this ?

2

Maybe they just don't care anymore.

3

I have this same problem. I can't connect to /a/.

4

They are currently working on the problem, I asked on IRC. Stop complaining and let's revive the textboards while they're fixing it.

Text boards > image boards.

5

>>4

You mean a mod told you that they're trying to fix it now?

I really hope so. There's a lot of other people with this same problem.

I really miss /a/ right now. ;_;

6

I got this from the big main thread people were posting in earlier.:

"Go on #4chan @ Rizon (irc://irc.rizon.net/4chan) and speak with a moderator."

"Go on #4chan @ Rizon. You need to register a nick (nickname) first. Mods are nicks with @ and % next to their names. Some mods also have a + next to their names as well, but not all."

I'm going to try this when I get some more spare time. I'll report back here later with results.

Good luck to anyone else having this problem.

Here's some info on IRC:

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a protocol for real-time Internet text messaging (chat) or synchronous conferencing.[1] It is mainly designed for group communication in discussion forums, called channels,[2] but also allows one-to-one communication via private message[3] as well as chat and data transfer,[4] including file sharing.[5]
IRC was created in 1988. Client software is available for every major operating system that supports Internet access.[6] As of April 2011, the top 100 IRC networks served more than half a million users at a time,[7] with hundreds of thousands of channels[7] operating on a total of roughly 1,500 servers[7] out of roughly 3,200 servers worldwide.[8]

10

I've got some more info from a thread on /g/ - Technology.

How to flush your host's DNS cash:

You can flush your local DNS cache in Windows by following these easy steps:

1. Open Start menu
2. Click Run
3. Type cmd and press enter
4. In the command prompt type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter

11

How to use IRC (from what I gathered from a thread on /g/):

1. Google xchat-wdk for a decent IRC client.
2. Register nick for yourself. You'll need a valid email address.
3. Login to the Rizon server.
4. Join #4chan channel. (/join #4chan)
5. Wait for a mod. Mods are nicks with @ and % next to their names. Some mods also have a + next to their names as well, but not all. Tell the mod you have the error.
6. Give the mod your IP address, and they should "un-ban" you.

Google how to use IRC commands if not sure, etc.

>>IRC commands:

/join #4chan

-to stop disconnections from time to time you want to send a status packet by joining the root room or 0 room by typing:

/join #0,0

12

>Where do you find this "#4chan IRC"?

Rizon Chat Network:

http://rizon.net/home

As you can see, 4chan is one of the sites that uses Rizon.

You need to register a nickname before you can join the #4chan chat.

13

Any luck?

btw
2. Register nick for yourself. You'll need a valid email address.
3. Login to the Rizon server.

These steps are in reverse, you've actually gotta login to the Rizon server first, then register a nick, since registered nicks are server-based.

14

>>13

Thanks for that tip.

I haven't downloaded that "xchat-wdk" thing yet (if that's what I'm supposed to do), and I still have to learn "IRC commands."

I just need more time. (college, job, and errands keep getting in the way)

15

(revised method for getting on #4chan IRC):

1. Google xchat-wdk for a decent IRC client.
2. Login to the Rizon server.
3. Register a nickname for yourself. You'll need a valid email address.
4. Join #4chan channel. (/join #4chan)
5. Wait for a mod. Mods are nicks with @ and % next to their names. Some mods also have a + next to their names as well, but not all. Tell the mod that you have the error.
6. Give the mod your IP address, and they should "un-ban" you.

Google "IRC commands" to learn how to use an IRC chat.

Update:

Apparently, the mods know about the cached ban error.

They posted the following message on the 4chan Rizon chat:

"Cached ban error? This is a known issue that cannot be resolved at this time"

The mods still might be able to fix it for you personally if you give them your IP address, I hope.

banned for no Reason.

20

I still can't access /a/.

I haven't had time to contact a mod on 4chan's Rizon IRC yet.

Has anybody else been able to contact a mod on IRC about the cached ban error?

21

Here are the steps to getting to the place for a 4chan ban appeal:

1.) Go to http://qchat.rizon.net/
2.) Fill in a nickname.
3.) Hit connect.
4.) Hit "Ok" when it asks you to register.
5.) Follow the instructions.
6.) Once registered, type /join #4chan in the bar on the bottom of the screen.
7.) Write that you want to appeal your ban and then discuss with the first operator or half-operator that responds. (They'll have either a @ or % to the left of their nickname, respectively.)

23

Btw, flushing DNS will not do, or never do shit unless you're directly connected to the internet without a router (most ISPs give you a router+modem combo nowadays).  Also some don't even allow static IPs, they assign you one to your routers MAC address, and changing the routers MAC will result in being unable to connect to the internet at all since you are not registered with the ISP.

APPEAL/IRC GUIDE:

1.) Download MIRC

2.) Install MIRC

3.) Launch MIRC, it will say you have a 30 day trial ect, click continue.

4.) Click File->Select Server.  Open the "Rizon" Folder and Select "Random Server".

5.) Click the "Connect" tab on the Left hand side under "Categories:"

6.) Enter your "Full name" and a (valid) "Email Address." Your "Nickname" is important, and has to be one someone else isn't currently using.  Fill all that in and click "ok."

7) On the main IRC page interface screen, you will see a lightning bolt at the top.  Click it, and wait for it to connect to the Rizon server.

8.) Once it is done, Type /nickserv register (Whatever you want your password to be, no brackets) (Your email address, no brackets)
Example: "/nickserv register derp Derpyhooves@delivery.com"
If it says your nickname is already taken, type /nick [newnameherenobrackets] and wait 30 seconds.

9.) You will receive an Email at whatever email address you left with a passcode.

10.) Open email, Copy the "/msg nickserv confirm df8fg8"

11.) Paste it in IRC, this will register your nickserv name.

12.) Type /join #4chan

13.) Message someone with  (@) or (%)." in their name on the side (Double click their name).  And ask them NICELY to fix your cached ban error. (basically un-banning you)

14.) With any luck, you will have full access to post again.

29

They won't unban you if you go to the IRC, as they don't have a solution to the error. They just tell you to email someone cached HTTP details.

30

>>29

What are cached HTTP details?

31

>>29

What are cached HTTP details, and who are we supposed to e-mail them to? Is it something to do with the details of our expired ban?

32

Update: Apparently, today I am able to access /a/ and browse threads, and I was able to make one post. However, I sometimes get bumped-back to the main page of 4chan whenever I refresh, or click on a thread.

Hopefully, this means that the mods are working on it; but it might just mean that the site is having technical problems today.

33

I can post on some boards perfectly fine but if I go to /v/ it says I'm banned but doesn't say why 8(

34

>>32

I get the same problem, but mine is slightly different.

I was banned for 2 weeks, but during the 2 weeks, I could visit the board and not post.

Once the ban was "over", this started happening.

35

It finally seems to have stopped. I can access boards now but sometimes it randomly reverts to the banned message. All I have to do it refresh again and it goes back to normal though. Thank god, that was getting unbearable.

36

Got this problem now too.
Mods couldn't help.  DNS flushing and cache clearing didn't help.

37

>>35

Same here.

I can access /a/ and I can post; but I sometimes randomly get bumped-back to the main page of 4chan whenever I open or refresh a thread.

I also still get the cached ban message sometimes.

It's better than nothing, I guess.

38

I got the cached ban error for the /a/ board a while back, after my /a/ ban expired on(pretty sure) 1/18/2012.

For about 3 weeks, I couldn't access /a/ at all.

Now I can access /a/ and browse threads, and post. However, I often get kicked back to the main page of 4chan whenever I refresh, open a thread, or finish a post. I also sometimes get the ban error message whenever I try to open /a/ from the 4chan home page.

I have to keep The Yotsuba Catalog for /a/ open in one tab, so I can keep clicking a thread until it lets me enter. It appears that the chances of opening a thread successfully, or getting kicked, are totally random. I've downloaded the new Google Chrome extension for 4chan, and I'm still having this issue.

I'm so grateful for being able to post on /a/ again at all; but I'd like for the mods to please keep working on it. (assuming that's why it's partially fixed now) Is anybody else having similar problems? Maybe doing a DNS flush would fix it now?

39

Has thier been any updates about the cache bans?

40

>>38
i had nearly the same thing. Short ban, expired, /a/ link redirected to front page, front page took to ban screen with no reason specified. Date is around the same too. I haven't seen any problems after things started working again.

I was just about to report it on IRC last week, but then i realized it was working again, so i didn't.
